E3 Eco Group Services

Working in the green/sustainable building industry for the past 10 years - and having been involved in grass roots to super sustainable design implementation, we can answer all of your questions and ultimately save you money. Below are some of the services we provide.

Energy Modeling of Houses

Natural Resources Canada introduced EnerGuide for New Houses in 2006 to help plan and build new homes that are cost-effective and energy efficient, lower greenhouse gas emissions and save energy.  Using a certified energy advisor, builders can review plans and test the integrity of the building envelope throughout the construction process to ensure the end result is a healthy, energy efficient home that will save money.

E3 Eco Group provides insight and cost-effective advice on the best options and strategies for maximizing the energy efficiency of your project before it is built. We work with architects, contractors and sub trades to ensure the best implementation of the selected strategies, and test throughout the building process to ensure all standards are met.

An EnerGuide rating is required for all new houses for programs including Built Green, LEED Canada for Homes, BC Hydro PowerSmart for New Houses, City of Vancouver Bylaws, and for the CMHC Mortgage Insurance Rebate.  E3 Eco Group can work with you to ensure your new project meets all municipal and program standards.

Built Green Consulting

Established in 2003, BuiltGreen™ Canada is a third party certification program for homes that are environmentally responsible. The BuiltGreen name adds value to your home by promoting the use of practices and products that represents resource-efficient and environmentally friendly construction.

The purpose of BuiltGreen Canada is to encourage homebuilders to prioritize energy efficiency, provide healthier indoor air, preserve natural resources and improve your home's durability. As a result, a BuiltGreen™ home helps you to significantly reduce your impact on the environment.  BuiltGreen offers three separate certification programs: single-family construction, multi-story Residential Towers (MS+RT), and renovations.

E3 Eco Group has done over 1000+ houses under the Built Green BC program. We are the largest local company with the most Certified Energy Advisors, and can guide you through any of the BuiltGreen programs.

LEED Consulting

E3 Eco Group can facilitate and work with you throughout the LEED certification process.  Our expertise is in LEED Building Design + Construction and LEED Canada for Homes & Midrise.

Green Building Consulting

If you simply want to ensure that your new home, project or renovation is healthy, efficient and environmentally sound, or would like a hand navigating through the many environmental checklists, green building codes and requirements,   E3 is happy to help.

As building codes are updated with more and more focus on sustainability components, it is becoming harder to navigate the requirements of each municipality’s quirks of their rezoning bylaws or updates to amended charters.  We are here to help not only in the capacity of helping to navigate the codes but also we are there to support you at council hearings, urban development panel presentations and any other regulatory presentation that may require sustainable expertise on staff.  We have done this for some of the largest developers in British Columbia and for some controversial projects as well. Having our background and depth of experience on your team and on hand helps to ensure that whatever sustainable question may be asked you are covered.

Whether building a new home, or renovating your existing one, E3 can provide the expertise, knowledge and experience to help you every step of the way.

Green Building Education

E3 understands the importance of education and training in the building industry.  As the green building industry grows, the demand for certified professionals and leading-edge training will become more crucial.

E3 works closely with CHBA-BC to provide Built Green Builder training and Certified Energy Advisor training across the province, and has worked closely in the past with Built Green BC to build on several of their programs, including Built Green for Renovations.   E3’s Troy Glasner is also a member of the CaGBC Faculty, and teaches the LEED for Homes course in British Columbia.

Our staff’s experience and knowledge can also help lead you and your team to a stronger understanding of the green building industry, with private training and educational material prepared upon request.

TECA Combustion Safety

Building Inspectors can request a Depressurization Test Report for large exhaust appliances. E3 Eco Group conducts these tests to ensure that the exhaust hood or other fans will not cause back drafting or combustion spillage of noxious gases into the home. E3 EcoGroup is certified by TECA, to perform this testing.

Room Integrity and Large Building Air Leakage testing Air leakage testing of electronics rooms

Rooms containing sensitive electronics are protected from fire by a gas-based fire suppression system. E3 Eco Group performs air leakage testing on such rooms to determine if enough fire suppressants are available in case of a fire. This is typically done when the room is commissioned and can be an important part of acquiring fire insurance on the property.

Large Building Air Leakage testing

As sustainable, energy efficient buildings continue to lead the way and governments at all levels require that buildings meet sustainability targets, E3 has the training and technology to ensure you meet all objectives.  We are one of the few companies that can test large building enclosures for air barrier integrity, ensuring the effectiveness of the air barrier for the building and the quality of the installation, as well as a confirmation of energy model assumptions.

Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control Testing (ETS)

Construction projects implementing either LEED Canada for Home Mid-Rise or LEED NC rated projects that incorporate residential dwellings will often require that they meet an environmental tobacco smoke control prerequisite and or compartmentalization testing.  Having completed all of the ETS testing for the Vancouver Olympic Village and a large portion of the LEED NC projects in Vancouver, we have the experience to help you with your requirements. From testing, reporting to final LEED Letter Template, we are here to help.
